KITABOO × HurixDigital Panel Discussion
Decoding Digital Trends for Publishers
The Insight Partners forecast that digital publishing revenue will double by 2028. Scott Hanson asks three publishing leaders whether they believe it: Steven Heffner of IEEE and Christine Charlip of ASM Press bring the society publisher’s view, and Srikanth Subramanian of HurixDigital argues the forecast is too cautious.

The conversation
Bad information is easy to find.
Christine Charlip’s point, near the end of the hour, sums up where the panel lands: vetted content should be easier to get to the point of need than it is today. Getting there means new business models as libraries move to usage-based platforms and open access, and systems that can surface the right piece of a journal, book or monograph for one reader’s task.
On the way, the panel argues about the report’s 9% a year, looks at what the pandemic did to classrooms and to IEEE’s 1,500 to 2,000 conferences a year, and takes audience questions on the digital divide, new formats for digital books and audience strategy.
