KITABOO ® helps a leading Spanish publisher group in eBook Production and Collaboration
A leading Spanish publishing group with 14 different imprints catering to eight different group publishing companies with a rich history dating back to 1959, who were looking forward to streamlining their digital production and distribution system.
Requirement:
The publisher group, which catered to a range of target customers, wanted separate branding for each of their 14 imprints. They also had an existing set of technology systems in place like CMS, ERP, eStore. How would these existing systems integrate with the production platform that they intended to start using?
Since a lot of content that the publisher published was used at schools, another concern that they had was regarding the secure distribution of the content. Not only distribution but they also wanted to know if teachers and students can collaborate and share content with each other. If yes, what would the level of collaboration be?
Solution:
Given the fact that publisher is not a single publisher but a group, Hurix proposed to use KITABOO® Publisher for conversion of legacy content to interactive eBooks. The platform was used as a centralized solution, where all the publishing houses of group can produce digital content. The platform easily integrated with group’s Oracle Financials based ERP and CMS systems at various stages of eBook production process. KITABOO® provides hooks at various stages of eBook production process, which helped in the integration process.
Not only was the Production platform centralized, but the 14 eReaders were also customized as per the Group’s branding requirements.
In order to any apprehensions regarding secure distribution, Hurix implemented Secure USB distribution of KITABOO® Books, which was rolled out by the group in Schools after rigorous testing by Spanish ethical hackers. Hurix implemented KITABOO® Collaboration in order to facilitate Student-Teacher interaction, which enabled teachers to share notes/resources in a contextual manner with students. Teachers were able to export resources to students directly from the readers, and students, on the other hand, were able to import the resources from the teachers allocated to them. The feature available for both online and offline versions meant that resource shared would be synced with the reader to be available offline too. Teachers also had an option of sharing and un-sharing of the resources with the students.
Benefits:
Given the number of different publishers, their digital eBook production system was streamlined by the use of centralized KITABOO® Publisher. Easy integration with existing IT systems meant faster go live for the client and displayed the ability of KITABOO® to easily integrate with existing ecosystems.
Out of the box, collaboration features meant students can access the content/resources shared by teachers, and can teachers had better ability to share resources right from the eReaders. This saved substantial efforts required by teachers to work closely with the students.
