How AI-Generated Assessments Will Reinvent Digital Education
Learning scientist Kanchan Shine uses a fitness analogy to explain why students forget what they read in digital textbooks, and walks through five cognitive exercises an ebook can build in. Pavan Modh then shows KITABOO’s K.AI generating summaries, flashcards and quizzes from an existing book, for students and for publishers.

The conversation
Most ebooks give students the equipment, but not the workout.
Publishers have invested in beautiful interfaces, multimedia and interactivity, yet long-term learning and recall still aren’t where they want them. Kanchan Shine explains why with a fitness analogy: the content is the gym equipment, and learning only happens in the workout. She takes the five exercises in turn, elaboration, retrieval, interleaving, spacing and generation, and shows what each one looks like inside an ebook.
In the second half, Pavan Modh demonstrates K.AI in KITABOO. A student generates a summary, learning objectives, flashcards and quizzes from chosen chapters, and a publisher creates a gradable quiz for a whole book in KITABOO Studio and previews it on desktop, tablet and phone.
In the conversation
The learning science, then the tool.
