Publishing – It’s Time To Adapt To Change, Aggressively!
That publishing technology is advancing is a cliché, well worn yet relevant, more so now than at any time before. Publishers recognize it, and so do consumers. The pace of change is both intimidating and breathtaking in as much as it is revealing for the potential it brings in its wake.
EPUB 3.0, HTML 5.0, and DRM among others are no longer merely terms but challenges that make demands of publishers to innovate, improvise, and align. Couple them with the challenges the digital environment brings to bear on publishing with respect to the rapid turnover in reading devices and the shift in reading patterns and reader preferences in light of emerging digital natives and content consumption. To add to his we are on the threshold of innovations, unleashed by the power of technology, to be infused into the world of publishing.
And with all this it becomes clear that the time for conventional publishing as we understood, needs to adapt more aggressively than ever to change so that the industry does not face a technological obsolescence.
